Workflow foundation

The workflow foundation
behind AI traceability agents

AI agents become useful only when they sit on top of real traceability context: product identity, event history, regulated workflows, partner hand-offs, mobile execution and enterprise integrations.

Core layers

Five layers that make traceability agents useful

This is the operating context beneath the AI layer. Without it, an agent is just generating text without grounded workflow awareness.

01

Digital identity

Products, vehicles, parts, batches, suppliers and locations give agents the object model they reason over.

02

Event model

Production, shipment, installation, ownership, service and recall events become the factual workflow timeline.

03

Traceability graph

Relationships across assets, components, events and parties help agents investigate and explain exceptions faster.

04

Mobile front-end

Operations are registered where they actually happen, giving agents last-mile execution context instead of back-office guesses.

05

Agentic interface layer

Semantic data, APIs and workflow rules let agents validate, investigate, reconcile and support operators in production.

Why it works in enterprise

Six reasons this foundation is strong enough for agents

Enterprise AI in traceability fails when the underlying workflow layer is weak, partial or disconnected from operations.

01

Scale & performance

High-volume traceability environments create the dense event reality that makes validation and investigation agents commercially useful.

02

Security & compliance

Role-based access, immutable audit trails and compliance-sensitive controls let agents operate inside regulated workflows safely.

03

Open integration

ERP, WMS, MES, supplier portals and structured feeds make agent outputs useful because they can work with the systems teams already use.

04

Data governance

Canonical models, ownership rules and data quality monitoring help agents reason over controlled context instead of noisy fragments.

05

Workflow implementation methodology

Validated rollouts, partner onboarding playbooks and post-go-live support are what turn AI from demoware into operational capability.

06

Reliability & support

Dedicated delivery teams and long-running production support matter because traceability agents need reliable workflow foundations over time.

Data flow

From source systems to agent-ready workflow context

This is how fragmented enterprise activity becomes something an agent can validate, explain and act on.

1
Source systems
ERP, WMS, MES, IoT, supplier portals, Excel/CSV/XML and APIs provide the raw operational trace.
2
Mobile capture
Factory line, warehouse, dealer, workshop and field events add the missing operational touchpoints.
3
Normalization and validation
Mapping, transformation and workflow validation turn raw records into usable operational context.
4
Canonical model
Normalized assets, events, suppliers, parts and batches create the controlled model agents can reason over.
5
Traceability graph
Auditable lifecycle history per asset makes exception analysis, recall reasoning and reconciliation possible.
6
Agents and business actions
Validation, investigation, reporting, service, recall and operator support can now run on grounded workflow context.

Enterprise workflow foundation

One traceability layer for a global FMCG manufacturer

An anonymized production case showing the workflow foundation on which validation, reporting and operator-support agents can be built.

7B+
saleable units processed through the platform per year
14 plants
with automated serialization, labeling and reporting workflows
80 warehouses
including 3PL operations running on the same traceability layer
24/7
operations, monitoring and support across the network

Context

A global FMCG manufacturer needed a single traceability operating model across dairy, packaged water, soft drinks and snacks.

The programme had to support high-volume production, regulated reporting and shared control across factories, warehouses and 3PL operations - without creating separate traceability processes for each category or site.

Scale

The deployment operates at industrial scale, processing 7B+ saleable units per year across 14 plants and 80 warehouses, including 3PL locations.

Core processes run around the clock, covering serialization, labeling, regulatory reporting, warehouse operations and site-level inventory visibility.

Solution scope

  • U.Solutions Hub rollout across four product categories with one unified plant operating model
  • SAP, WMS and 3PL integrations, including real-time WMS requests through RFT terminals
  • Serialized item-level accounting and real-time inventory recalculation
  • BI dashboards for operational visibility across plants and warehouses
  • Three support lines with active 24/7 monitoring

Outcome

The programme reached phased industrial rollout across all four categories and automated traceability reporting at scale.

The manufacturer now operates a single live traceability layer across plants, warehouses and 3PL operations, improving control, regulatory readiness and visibility across high-volume FMCG supply chains.

End-to-end tire traceability for Continental Tires

A production case showing how U.Solutions Hub creates the execution context needed for operator copilots, warehouse reconciliation and exception investigation.

3M+
unique tires serialized and processed through the platform per year
Local production + import
covered by one unified traceability operating model
15+ logistics sites
including own distribution centers and 3PL warehouses
SAP, MES and WMS
integrated into one traceability control layer

Context

Continental Tires needed a unified traceability platform to support both local tire production and imported products.

The solution had to connect factory-level serialization, ERP processes, warehouse operations and downstream logistics into one operating model. The business needed full visibility across the supply chain, from production and import to distribution centers, 3PL warehouses and final shipment flows.

Scale

The deployment covers around 3 million unique tires per year, each identified and processed through a serialized traceability layer.

The operating model supports local plant operations, imported product flows and logistics execution across approximately 15 own distribution centers and 3PL warehouse locations.

Solution scope

  • U.Solutions Hub rollout for tire serialization and end-to-end traceability
  • Integration with SAP ERP for master data, business transactions and reporting flows
  • Integration with plant MES systems for production-level serialization and traceability events
  • Integration with WMS systems across own warehouses and 3PL operations
  • Full traceability across local production, import, warehousing and distribution
  • Centralized visibility of serialized tire movement across the logistics chain

Outcome

Continental Tires received a single operational traceability layer across production, import and warehouse logistics.

The platform provided full visibility across the supply chain, connecting SAP ERP, MES and WMS systems into one traceability model. As a result, the client gained stronger control over serialized tire movement, warehouse operations and product status across its distribution network.

Multi-country pharmaceutical traceability for INNOTHERA

U.Solutions Hub was implemented for INNOTHERA to create the regulated operating context required for reporting, investigation and reconciliation agents.

10M+
serialized units managed across medicines, food supplements and cosmetics
SAP ERP integration
enterprise data and operational events connected with the traceability layer
Rockwell equipment
production events captured from the manufacturing site in France
2 international 3PL operators
outsourced logistics flows integrated into one traceability environment

Context

U.Solutions Hub was implemented for INNOTHERA to manage end-to-end traceability of medicines, food supplements and cosmetics across production, import and outsourced logistics operations.

The business needed one traceability layer that could connect manufacturing, ERP workflows and international logistics partners without fragmenting visibility across countries or product categories.

Scale

The platform manages approximately 10 million unique product units and connects SAP ERP, Rockwell production equipment and two 3PL operators in different countries into a single traceability layer.

Since 2020, the system has supported production, import and logistics workflows, giving INNOTHERA visibility of serialized products across several countries.

Highlights

  • 10M+ serialized units across medicines, food supplements and cosmetics
  • SAP ERP integration for enterprise data and operational traceability events
  • Rockwell equipment integration for production events at the manufacturing site in France
  • Two international 3PL operators integrated into one traceability environment
  • In production since 2020 for regulated multi-country healthcare supply chains

Outcome

INNOTHERA now operates a single traceability layer across production, import and outsourced logistics flows.

The platform provides long-term visibility of serialized products across several countries while connecting SAP ERP, production equipment and 3PL workflows into one regulated operating model.
